We
sat down with Danica, and here’s what she had to
say about this show!
Q:
Tell us about the character you play – Who is “Inspector
Mom”?
I’ve had a blast playing Maddie
Monroe – juggling two adorable kids, a husband,
a job at the paper, and her hobby – solving mysteries!
She’s not technically an inspector or a detective,
but somehow she always solves the crimes that happen in
the neighborhood – in spite of the police’s
objections, of course. She’s the epitome of “curiosity
killed the cat.” If someone says, “don’t
go down that hallway” – she’ll go down
that hallway. She can’t help herself, she just has
to know.
Q:
And this was shot in Texas?
Yes, we filmed the entire thing
in Dallas…what a great city! I love all the great
restaurants there, and the people were so nice. I made
some good friends, and I’m sure I’ll be back.
And I do believe I adopted a bit of a Texan twang…
Q:
What about the writing? What was that like for you?
I was pretty busy acting and writing a math book at the same time - but I loved being able to contribute when I could. I did some writing on both of the TV movies, and also one or two of the webisodes. The webisodes I contributed most were "The Mystery of Mrs. Plumlee" and also “Casualty Friday.” That was one of the more comedic ones, so that was fun to do.
Q:
What do you like most about this gig?
The acting, of course! I love the
fact that my character loves to go undercover in order
to solve mysteries. So I’ve gotten to play lots
of different “characters” in this show –
an office temp, a goth girl, a med student, and a Tango
dancer, to name a few!

Q: Tell us about the dancing what was that like?
That was for the second TV movie we did “Inspector Mom: Kidnapping in Ten Easy Steps.” Gocha Chertkoev and Shorena Gachechiladze are worldwide ballroom dance champions, and I was so lucky to be trained by them for the movie. I was a fan of Gocha’s from his TLC series, “Ballroom
Bootcamp.” He was a real find - a great actor and dancer! Gocha plays the dance instructor in the movie, and one of the prime suspects… so we Tango while I’m questioning him. It’s really cool and creepy.
